First Remote Work Community Program in Croatia

One of the greatest benefits of remote working is the ability to relocate your office virtually anywhere. This allows the opportunity to meet extraordinary people from all over the world. However, sometimes we seek deeper connections with the people we encounter, and a new place we settle.

Digital Nomad Valley Zadar was a 6-month coliving project aimed to attract remote workers to the city of Zadar. We interconnected remote work community with a variety of local initiatives, built a network of collaborative workspaces, and offered a variety of activities. The project prove that it is possible to attract a fairly new type of travelers in virtually any location which provides basic infrastructure, by building the community from scratch.

Zadar, Croatia

Situated in Zadar's neighbourhood Borik, 30 minutes by foot from downtown lies the Valley. It is a unique project gathering remote workers on a hop-on, hop-off basis - allowing remoter workers to come for as short as two weeks, or stay for the entire season. Managing Director from UK

“I was looking for a place to get the balance of being able to work and run my crazy schedule, but with a scenic view and get away from the dank English weather! The facilities WRC provides are amazing, the people are great and I’m going to be extending my time in Zadar! From dips in the sea to fantastic hikes, ending the day in the spa and a brilliant wifi connection, what else do I need?”

“Me and my wife love travelling, but my wife became pregnant. We wanted to do our last larger trip for some time, but it had to be in January. We were delighted to hear about the Digital Nomad Valley.

When we arrived, there was a great mix of nomads from different cultures. Everyone had some interesting stories

We had a local experience. We were sad to leave, we made some real friendships there. We would extend our stay, but my wife had to go to some pregnancy check-ups. But we will be back!”

“The community consists of very special individuals, everyone with their own story, everyone with full of energy and positive attitude, we met people who, just like we are, curious about the world and enjoy life!

We loved spending time together celebrating big and small events. Everything is well organized: almost every day is something interesting to do: sunset meeting, yoga, spa, walks, barbecues, dinners and more.

Also, there is always a plan for weekends, thanks to that we had the opportunity to visit unpopular places, sleep in a mountain shelter, try domestic food and know real Croatia.”

“DN Valley Zadar has everything you want from a remote working location… a fantastic community, plenty of activities to do in your spare time and a good choice of places to eat and drink. The Croatian coastline is simply stunning and there are amazing hiking trails in the nearby Velebit mountains. The spa at the Valley is a great place to relax after a productive day in the coworking space.

What really sets the Valley apart is the fantastic community they have built, which allows you to feel right at home from day one!

I had to extend my stay at the Valley two times. It’s simply the best place to be!”

“This was my first community life experience and it was way beyond what I’d expected.
First, I had some doubts that I believe is pretty natural for any new start, but I’ve decided to go with the flow.

I came just before New Year’s Eve and I was immediately introduced to the community. We had a very FUN night, welcoming the new year in the Croatian way (lot’s of shots of that red tasty liquor which I don’t remember the name).”
